Malawi President Dr Lazarus Chakwera on Friday, July 30, concluded his official duties in London with a series of engagements.
Dr Chakwera started the day with an address at Chatham House, followed by interviews with The Economist and Sky News.After granting the interviews to the media the Malawi leader held a meeting with leaders of the Malawian community in the United Kingdom. Dr Chakwera finished the day by hosting Associate Professor Samson Kambalu, the celebrated Malawian artist, whose sculpture of John Chilembwe will be displayed in London’s Trafalgar Square next year.
According to the State House Press Office, Associate Professor Kambalu, travelled with his wife Susan to London from the University of Oxford, where he is a Fellow of Magdalen College and an Associate Professor of Fine Arts.
The Malawi Leader travelled to London on Sunday, July 25 to attend the global education summit on invitation by Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson and President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya who doubled as co-hosts of the summit.
Through the summit, the United Kingdom has pledged £37 million pounds which translates to (MK41.9) billion towards supporting the teaching of Mathematics and to keep girls in school.
