Ogode is a song about friendship. I literally dreamt this song melody while touring China in 2015 with a group of friends from Mafirika Band (Enerst Ikwanga, Sam Mjura Mkandawire, Chambota Chirwa, and Amos Mlolowa) and Charlie Maere who organized the tour.
I kept the song for so many years not finding a good space to release it. Finally I played it to Pianist and producer Gresham Mokwena who agreed to produce it. On top of producing the track, I featured Gresham who laid one of the most amazing piano pieces I have ever heard from him. It was so exciting to see the song come to life. From this, we produced a Piano and acoustic guitar version. But never released it yet. After listening continuously, I decided to add a few more elements to the song and make an early remix.
I called a friend of mine Elvie Ndjeka, an amazing Bass guitarist from Zambia who agreed to play Bass on the track. I later on called another long time friend in South Africa Amos Mlolowa, one of the Best drummers I have met in Malawi. He laid beautiful drums on it. Gresham, Elvie and Amos did justice to the song. And Finally I sent the track to Leo in London. On one of the UK tours I crossed paths with an amazing Music maker and guitarist Leo Appleyard of urchinmusic. A man of gifted hands and great ideas. He mixed the track and gave us what we now call OGODE.Ogode will be pat of the new project coming out this year.
